| Welcome to what we believe could be a
fantastic opportunity for youth in Chester and surrounding communities. For
many years, children and families from our community have traveled to towns 25
miles or farther to play youth football. There are a number of things that have
to be considered when making such a commitment. It is likely, however, the two
most common reasons for not participating: time and money. All families have
experienced hardships with the economic downturn whether it’s taking on more
work hours or adjusting the family budget to afford inflated prices in gas and
food. |
| There are several families who have chosen to commit to playing in surrounding
communities, which speaks to the dedication of supporting a youth football
program. There have been many other families who have expressed that if the
barriers of time and travel costs were removed, their children would love to
participate. It seems that forming a youth football program in Chester could be
a success! |
WHAT’S BEEN DONE SO FAR…
·
We have
been successful in gaining the opportunity for an invitation into a youth
football conference in the local area.
·
We have
researched plans and prices for insurance, equipment and league fees.
·
We have
gained the approval and support of the Coach Brian Lee, Head Coach of the
Chester Yellow Jacket High School Football program |

WHAT NEEDS TO BE DONE…
. Evaluate the potential number of participants. Will the
community support a youth football league? First and foremost, we need an
expressed interest and feedback to learn if there will be enough football
players and cheerleaders to support this effort.
. Consider the initial costs. We will be speaking to local
businesses and outlining fundraising efforts.
· Share potential costs with participants.
Players:
We would propose a one-time initiation
fee of no more than $100. This fee would only be paid the first year the player
participates. Ideally, the fee could be less pending the level of support from
community boosters and private donors. The initiation fee
would assist in the purchase of equipment and would provide each player and
family a bit of ownership and responsibility for the equipment over their years
as a participant of the youth football league in Chester. A
participation fee of $60 will be charged on a yearly basis. *Arrangements could be made to assist families in a plan for
payment, when requested Cheerleaders: We would propose a participation fee of $25 plus the cost of the uniform. Ideally, the uniform could be worn for 2-3 years and may be estimated at $60. |

WE NEED TO HEAR FROM YOU Again, the biggest motivator in moving forward with this
project is hearing from future participants or community supporters.
